Kim Delaney is an American actress who is best known as the character detective Diane Russell in ABCs series NYPD Blue for which she received an Emmy Award. In addition, she was a part of dramas such as All My Children Philly CSI: Miami, Army Wives and CSI: Miami. As the sole daughter of a high-ranking executive in the United Auto Workers and a household worker, Delaney was raised with four brothers. In childhood, Delaney dreamed about becoming a reporter for the court. She began modelling in high school and then gaining commercials when she moved into New York. Her first role as an actor was as an innocent teenager in the soap opera All My Children. Since then, Delaney has been in a variety of film and television dramas. Her personal life unlike her professional has not been a success and has not been happy. The talented actress struggled to overcome alcoholism and had two marriages that failed. In 2005, she lost custody of her son.
