Courtney Shanade Salter, aka Ari Lennox, was born in Washington, D.C. on the 26th of March on the 26th of March, 1991. She's an American artist and songwriter, as well as the first artist signed by J. Cole to his record label Dreamville Records. Dreamville Records released her debut EP, Pho, in October 2016 where she started to get recognition. Her debut studio album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her music onto the internet in 2012 when she dropped her first mixtape called Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography, in 2013. The year 2014 saw her release more music via the Internet including Bound. Sweat It is featured on Omen's Elephant Eyes album, which was released on July 21 2015. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville crew back then was interested in having her work on Rihanna reference. On December 8 it was revealed that she had contracted to Dreamville Records.
