Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, aka Ari Lennox, was born in Washington, D.C. on the 26th of March on the 26th of March, 1991. She's an American artist and songwriter, as well as the first artist signed by J. Cole to his record label Dreamville Records. Dreamville Records released her debut EP, Pho, in October 2016 where she started to get recognition. Her debut studio album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her music onto the internet in 2012 when she dropped her first mixtape called Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography, in 2013. The year 2014 saw her release more music via the Internet including Bound. Sweat It is featured on Omen's Elephant Eyes album, which was released on July 21 2015. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville crew back then was interested in having her work on Rihanna reference. On December 8 it was revealed that she had contracted to Dreamville Records. Backseat was her contribution to The Revenge of the Dreamers II album. In October of 2016 the singer-songwriter released her debut EP, Pho. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's hit song Change and performed as an opening act for the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. In 2018, she went on to guest feature on two tracks with her label-mates EarthGang in Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox's first album Shea Butter Baby was released on the 16th of July, 2018. The album's first single, called Whipped Cream, from the album came out the 5th of September, 2018 and featured a an accompanying music video. In November, she released the singles forty Shades of Choke & Grampa. Two singles more were released on the 11th of November with the titles Pedigree and One. She was featured with Cole in the Creed II Soundtrack on Shea Butter Baby, on November 16, and then she released the song in a solo version for her first album. The song, made available with a video posted on YouTube on February 20, 2019, has been viewed over 3 million times within the first seven days. In December 2018 the singer was a part of the From East Atlanta With Love Tour that featured 6LACK.
